DPHP is a primary C10 phthalate plasticizer, chemically similar to DIDP, known for its excellent performance and versatility in high-quality PVC products. Its key advantage lies in its regulatory status; it is not listed as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) under REACH, and finished products using DPHP test free from restricted phthalates like the 6P or 16P groups. This makes it a reliable and compliant choice for manufacturers targeting the EU and other high-end markets.
It is mainly used for the following fields:
· Automotive Interiors: DPHP's longer carbon chain provides superior compatibility with PVC, resulting in enhanced stability and reduced migration from the final product. This translates to automotive components with lower odor, excellent fogging resistance, a smooth surface, and high abrasion resistance.
· Wire and Cable: This plasticizer offers low volatility and good electrical insulation properties, outperforming DOP and DINP in volume resistivity. While DOTP may have slightly better insulation, DPHP provides a superior balance with excellent aging resistance and less tendency to migrate, especially in high-loading formulations. It is widely used in general (e.g., UL60/75) and some higher-temperature (UL80/90) cables. DPHP can directly replace DIDP in many thick-cable formulas at a lower cost, offering equivalent electrical performance, though it may require slight process adjustments due to its higher viscosity.
· Durable Exterior and Flexible Products: DPHP exhibits outstanding UV and weather resistance, making it ideal for outdoor applications like tarpaulins and coatings. Furthermore, its low-migration characteristic is crucial for extremely flexible PVC products (with plasticizer content over 100 phr), preventing exudation and ensuring long-term product integrity.
